Bound by Design was established in early 1993 by Pamelita, aka "PJ", who had a long-standing interest in body arts as well as BDSM. It was Pamelita's goal to build a business catering to the interests of all ages, but primarily the young people who previously found little of interest on East Colfax Avenue. The store originally occupied only the small east portion of the interior, then later expanded to its current size. It began by featuring BDSM photo art, including aspiring local photographers such as Inna Valin.

I was tattooed by Kyle Grover recently at the 2008 Denver tattoo convention. Needless to say the tattoo I recieved was amazing and ended up winning best tatto of the day on friday. Kyle's traditional american style tattooing is great and I am very pleased. I would highly reccomend any person looking for this style of work to check him out.
I have been to Bound by Design for body piercing before and they made me feel so comfortable I went back to recieve my first tattoo ever a couple days ago. The shop was immaculate and the staff was so helful and friendly. To be honest I thought a tattoo was going to hurt so I prepared for the worst but it ended up NOT hurting at all. Decided to get another tat at a different shop OUCH! PAINFUL MISTAKE! I really wish I would have went back to Bound by Design! I will return to there for ALL future tattoo's/body mods no matter HOW BAD I WANT IT! I would HIGHLY recommend this place for all future body mods! New or Exhisting.
I have had both tat's and piercing from Bound by Design and have been a customer since 1994 when I had my lip done. I have always found that going there is a pleasant exprience. I have not been there since they remoduled but look forward to visiting again.
Phil and crew have the most talent by far of any tattoo shops around. My husband is covered by Phil and has actually won first place in some competitions. The place is super clean, super cool and they employ the highest talents in the state.
