Adolph & Gerda Rothchild opened their bakery in August of 1951 and introduced Denver to delectable European pastries, breads and cakes. Adolph was the creative genius at the bench and the ovens, while Gerda greeted each customer with a warm smile. Over the years, while still baking the wonderful European treats introduced by Adolph, Child's broadened its line of baked goods to include wedding cakes. Today, wedding and special occasion cakes is what Denver area residents associate with the name "Childs". I schedulded an appointment to sample wedding cakes at Childs on Broadway and County Line. When we got there not only were they not prepared for the appointment they had set with us, they didn't even have the samples of cakes I had ordered. The girl helping us was confused and embarassed, as she wasn't expecting us. She then pulled cakes out of the freezer that weren't even flavors we were interested in. (Tasted really bad!) I might have not been upset, but this was the 2nd appointment they had to reschedulewith us due to their poor sceduling issues. I asked the clerk to have the store manager call me, it has been 3 business days, no call yet. I would never spend the money they are asking for their cakes if they can't set an appointment and keep it. Reason two being that I ORDERED samples, they must have lost the notes! Your wedding is the mostmemorable day in your life, cake is a big part of the reception and I for sure will be letting all my friends know what a crappy experience I had with Childs. Thanks.

Everyone loved our wedding cake!!! 5 layers of cake with 4 layers of filling!!! It was absolutely delicious and we will be ordering our cakes for birthdays, anniversaries, and any other special events from now on!!!

I have the biggest sweet tooth imaginable, and Child's cakes have been a staple of every celebration at my house since I was a kid. No other bakery I (or my family) have ever tried can even come close to their quality and taste. They are simply the best.

They had no limit as to how many cakes they could make, so booking them for one of the busiest wedding days ever was not a problem. Additional flavors, fillings, delivery and set-up are ALL included in cake price.

The cake actually tastes good (most wedding cakes do not), they make beautiful cakes and are easy to work with - they are the best in the state.

Child's Pastry did our wedding cake in 2005. It was absolutely gorgeous and everyone raved about how good it tasted. Not one bite was left over. Highly recommend them to anyone wanting a quality wedding cake.
