The History of the glorious Gothic Theatre began in the roaring Twenties when magnificent movie palaces were the center of entertainment in society. The theatre's grand art deco style awed the thousands of Denver residents who came to view the classic movies of the period. Its importance to the area may never be fully understood by those who were not there at the time. Generations of families spent hours of their lives within the theatre's famous walls dreaming, laughing, crying, being entertained, and most importantly, creating memories. The theatres place in Denver's history was cemented when the Gothic became the first in the city to show talking movies. Talk about blowing minds.
As time passed the fate of the Gothic began to change. With changes in ownership came changes in the architecture and look of the beautiful building. In the 1940's the front façade was radically altered to keep pace with more modern tastes. Luckily the interior art deco finishes were left untouched (the rounded walls and wonderful recessed coves remain to this day). This atmosphere helps the building retain its connection with the historical past.

They get some of the finest indie rock around live and the drinks are reasonably priced. The decor is great and its a perfect size for an intimate but exciting show.
This is a greatest small venue as far as seating, sound, service, and friendly atmosphere but I have not been interested in seeing the choice of musicians performing here in the last several years.
Great venue but not my kind of music very often (and I like almost everything) is missing a large crowd of music lovers because of lack of variety of acts.
Great Venue! love that they have some of the a significant amount of heavy metal acts play. Came here for many a show. Only issue I have is the fact that once your in the venue you have to stay in with only small smoking section. This problem is not too bad but when some shows are festivals (ten for ten) reentry would be nice, but I understand the need to restrict people from leaving and tailgating a bit too much.
The best atmosphere and sound by far... It is truly a one of a kind venue that we are extremely fortunate to have in town. They get great acts as well.
Intimate place to have a show that would house a few hundred, can get right up close within 25' or so to the stage and dance...2-tiered levels let people view from a higher level over peoples heads while sitting down...and great acoustics, no matter where you go. Great look inside.
Amazing theater, less that stellar artist booking. A shame this great theater has been relegated to the hardcore and second/third tier musical acts that come to Denver. By far the be architecture and sound of ANY theater in the state!
My husband's band has played a lot of venues in Denver and the Gothic has been the best so far. And there is nothing like seeing national acts in an up close and personal venue like the Gothic.
