The Japan Karate Association of Colorado's Denver dojo has been at the same location just south of downtown for 30 years. The Shotokan Karate taught at the dojo emphasizes a practical, self-defense-oriented approach to Karate. The various stances, punches, kicks and blocks all combine to build strength, speed and power. Almost anyone can begin taking Karate, no matter what their age and physical condition. We tailor the beginning classes to accommodate all levels of fitness and ability, and there are classes where all levels are welcome to participate.
An excellent club for training in traditional Shotokan karate with a balanced physical and mental workout. This dojo is a foundational part of a superb organization now known as the International Shotokan Karate Federation. Thank you Sensei Yaguchi for such great instruction.
I am writing from Montana, where Sensei Yaguchi will soon come to spend a few days teaching. His influence extends beyond Denver and Colorado, his inspiration reflected in the good people whom he has touched. The Denver folks are kind and wonderful - the result of Sensei's teachings.
From what I know of Yaguchi Sensei he is an amazing man with incredible depth. He is amazing at Karate, some say the best. When I have trained under him he's been able to tell me exactly what I needed to know to improve my technique. Also, if my health could be even remotely close to what his is at that age I would be ecstatic.
Sensei Yaguchi is incredible, and we are very lucky to have him here in Colorado. People all over the world get excited to train with him once a year, so it is wonderful to be able to train with him regularly.
Mr. Yaguchi is one of the very few first generation JKA instructors sent worldwide to teach true Shotokan Karate. Even within this elite group of real karate masters, he is considered to be among the very best. He is a great instructor and a great man who has touched and changed many lives.
Sensai Yaguchi once asked Chuck Norris while Mr. Norris was under his stewardship has a student how is low cover was to which Mr. Norris replied, "Good".
Mr. Yaguchi is famous for his crescent kicks and caught his student quite unaware in an awkward position of, "low cover" on the male body.
All kidding aside... Sensai Yaguchi's dojo is steeped in tradition straight out of Japan and you will learn respect, and humility and the true meaning of what the belt structure is really all about.
They are simply the best because Sensei Yutaka Yaguchi is a world class instructor that focuses on Character first then Karate, not the color of belt or breaking of bricks--it's not about that.
Sensei Yaguchi is amazing. We have seen him perform, witnessed him instruct and he is nothing short of professional. My son is nine and has been under his instruction for five years and is on his way to a brown belt. Good luck, Sensei Yaguchi.
