L'Atelier is the studio/workshop of Chef Radek Cerny, where he and his staff offer excellence in food artistry and fine dining to their guests. Radek Cerny was born in Prague, in what is now called the Czech Republic, and learned to cook at the Czech Cook's School. A keen interest in performing bluegrass music led him to Nashville, but the harsh realities of the music business led him "back to the spatula." He found his way to Vail, cooking at the Tennis Club, then moved on to Chicago, then New York, cooking at Le Francais and Lafayette. He eventually landed in the Boulder/Denver area, then traveled to France to be inspired in the kitchens of Roger Verge and Paul Bocuse.
In 1988 he opened The European Cafe in Boulder, and later extended his reach to Al Fresco in LoDo. These successes led to the opening of Papillon, one of Denver's most unforgettable restaurants, and later Radex and Le Chantecler. L'Atelier was founded in 2003.
