As we approach our third anniversary at Miners Alley Playhouse in Golden, Colorado we look back on some extraordinary experiences. In this time we have produced 27 productions, over two dozen musical events, 24 art gallery showings, ongoing classes and workshops for actors, young to old.Over the past seventeen years of “Bringing Quality Theater to the Foothills” we have seen many shifts in the cultural landscape. Arts groups come…arts groups go. Friends are made, friends part ways. Critics love ya…critics hate ya. But that magic word, collaboration, continues to be the glue that keeps the cultural families together. We have forged some wonderful collaborations over the years many of them remain strong to this day.
Miners Alley Playhouse is theater at its finest and the best theater overall theater experience in Colorado. Ticket prices are very reasonable. In one venue you have an art gallerie, full service bar (reasonably priced and drinks are allowed in the theater), intimate concert venue, plays that run the gammet from classics to avonguard, and unquestionably five star acting performances by the actors. Every seat is close to the stage (never more than four rows from the stage. Following every opening night is a tscrumptious, thematic buffet and a chance to meet the actors. A membership with Miners Alley is a great deal because it allows you to pick the plays and the nights to attend, plus you are invited to attend a members only reception and an after the show conversation with the actors on the second Saturday of every run. Miners Alley Playhouse is definetly heaven for anyone who loves the "arts".
It is unfortunate that the popularity of the DCPA means that small venues like Miner's Alley are often overlooked. The theatre is intimate, the productions are delightful, and the staff is friendly. The simple fact that the audience is so close to the perfomance makes them feel a part of it. And the quality of the shows is belied by the low ticket price. I was crying with laughter in Not Now Darling and more scared by the staged version of Misery than I was during the movie. With every production, Miner's Alley continues to up the ante. This is a quality theatre, and not a venue to miss.
