The Pepper Pod, built in the 1920’s by the Peppers family, began as a modest café on old Main Street in Hudson. Soon however, flourishing business necessitated a larger building, so one was built next to Highway 6 where business thrived, making it a landmark on the plains northeast of Denver. In 1956, our present building was constructed near the new interstate 80 (now I-76). Mr. Peppers son-in-law, Bill Howard, operated the “Oasis on the Plains” into the 70’s. Dave & I bought the Pod in 1977, and decided to “Never rest on our reputation, but keep building one.” We began serving buffalo year round, a concept started due to the beef shortages of World War II. In fact, the beautiful bison heads decorating our main dining room are relics from the herd which grazed behind the Pod for many years. In 2005, our daughter Amy graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY & has now joined our operation. You will notice her influence, as we continue to strive to bring you the freshest & highest quality foods available, prepared when you order. Amy brings fresh ideas & expertise to the Pod that you will find in new specials, & menu offerings. However, having grown up here, she treasures our foundation in tradition, so you still won’t need a degree in Chemistry to understand our list of ingredients. Dave still selects well marbled beef, ages it in our facilities, and cuts it fresh daily. Our salad dressings, soups, breads, gravies, etc., are all made from scratch, with many from recipes created over 85 years ago.

I've lived in Keenesburg and Hudson all my life and the Pod was always there with wonderful food. I worked at the Pepper Pod in 1974-75 making extra money before college. I am now in my 50's (shuuush) and still enjoy honoring my friends with a good meal at the Pod. The buffalo burgers are the best although anything on the menu is excellent, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their creamed soups are GREAT!! Giant onion rings, huge baked potatoes, steaks, fish, salad bar.....are you getting hungry??? Go out to the Pepper Pod sometime and ENJOY!

We eat breakfast at the Pepper Pod every Sunday. Every time we go in we are greeted by everyone and made to feel at home. The Pepper Pod definitely has that small town feel and no matter how many times a week we go there it feels like we are walking into mom's house every time!

The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. Tracey is always smiling and willing to chat. Being a small town, with only a few restaurants, it is great to have a menu full of variety and flavor. It is the perfect restaurant to take my family too or go and have a quiet dinner with my boyfriend.

We have been eating at the Pod 3 to 4 times a week for over 8 years, and have had a club valentine dinner there every year for the past 7 years. The food is tasty, wholesome, and bountiful. Dave cuts all his own steaks, which are tender, juicy, and flavorful. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. Even though the Pod is located in a small rural area northeast of Denver with friendly, hometown atmosphere, they still project the best of big city food, desserts and beverages, including a comfy lounge to sit around with friends and enjoy the "spirits," both alcoholic and sports TV. The Pepper Pod is a landmark, an oasis in the desert, and a favorite watering hole for the locals and travelers near and far. We highly, highly recommend it.
