i feel like I need to bring up the monetary aspect of this school as this is part of the reason why we quit MHK. Well that and the deception. We paid $197 per month for our child. Then when she reached a certain belt color the Englewood owner told us that for our child to advance any further or to learn anything more that she HAD to enroll in the Leadship program. This cost upwards of $500 per MONTH for one child, or $300 per MONTH if we gave a substantial down payment. OH and we had to sign a 6 YEAR contract for an 8 yr old. That is a total of $26 THOUSAND!! (Or $13K we were told if we paid the whole sum up front we would get 1/2 off!!!) Our child was made to feel at home during the free trial and told she was the best, then after she was hooked, the owner threw the money amounts at us. We would be the jerks if we didnt let it happen. The Leadership program and the increase in dues was NEVER brought up until she asked us to sign our child up after our child had already been a studen for months! It is a very deceitful way of doing business. I finally refused to pay her that amount of money after looking at what dues was at several other very qualified Karate Schools. And then we ended up quiting because my child was not learning ANYTHING new and was playing games for half of the classes she attended. This made my child extremely bored and put off by Karate all together. I feel that because we refused to pay this ridiculous amount of money our child was left out and not given the attention our $200 a month constituted. It was ultimately our 8yr olds decision to leave MHK because she ended up hating to go and we had to drag her to class. If there was one good thing I could say about MHK it would be to compliment Mr. Galloway. He was our childs Head Instructor for the first half of the year, and our child adored him as did we. After he left the school, the CHILD blackbelts were instructing the other children. I am sorry but I was expecting a certified instructor to teach my child for $200 per month, not another child. I know that MHK has an explaination for this teaching concept, although I do not agree with it at all and had to ask the owner twice to stop letting the other children teach my child how to use a weapon. OH and the worst part is, after we left we were still charged for 2 months the useless website charge of nearly $50. I have asked for reimbursement since December of last year and yet to receive the money back, or get a return call from the owner of Englewood. I know another family personally that went through the same issue and it also took months and months, and several phone calls to get their money back. My Advise would be to ask a LOT of questions regarding the money that is owed per month and way the school is run including the specifics of the program. And do your homework at the other schools, it may just save you a lot of grief and money.

Our kids started in the after school program a year and a half ago. After seeing positive changes in both kids, we decided to join Mile High Karate. Another reason we joined MHK was to redevelop our son's muscle strength after he was on chemotherapy for over three years to fight Leukemia.

As someone who has over 28 years experience in the martial arts - and who came to Mhk from the outside. I can honestly say the Mhk is the best! My personal resume includes training in many very realistic systems that address real self defense. Both kickboxing / and BJJ. With significant ranking and training in BJJ. With my background along with many other staff members, Mhk students get a very realistic, effective training. The training also goes way beyond just fighting too! If I didn't truly believe this, I would have never joined the Mhk team. I get the opportunity to impact the lives of many great people every day. What an amazing gift!

Very friendly environment yet structured in their teaching approach. They are interested in their students being successful broadly in their lives, beyond the confines of the martial arts studio. Very sensitive to children's needs. The children and young adults are engaged in a non-intimidating fashion and in a manner that builds self-confidence and self-esteem.

I'm so glad that I'm part of MHK. They help me a lot with my kids and me, they make my kids feel confident and me, even with my teenager. It's great how they manage the problems at school and home. Mr. Young is a great person! Too bad I moved to Florida but I found a MHK here and is also great!
