The bicycle spirit drove Doug to open an enormously successful bike store in Boulder, Colorado. It all started in March 1985 as a used bike, rental and repair shop in a small basement on Pearl Street. The business grew rapidly and within eight months had to move to a larger location at 9th and Pearl, where it resides today. University Bicycles is now the oldest bike store in Boulder, and thrives simply on a philosophy of friendly service.

The customer service and knowledge that this shop has is unparalleled! You NEVER have to wait to be helped and this shop has absolutely NO attitude, like a lot of the other shops around. You couldn't meet a nicer group of men and women who absolutely know their bikes. I won't go anywhere else!
Hey these guys really care about fitting you to the bike of our dreams. Test-Drives all free. This is the place to buy. They are about $10.00 bucks cheaper than the Denver shops. You will enjoy buying here.
They have been voted best of Boulder for as long as I can remember.
In 1985, Doug Emerson opened a bike shop on Pearl Street. 22 years and several thousand square feet of retail space later, University Bicycles is in a league of its own.
They are the friendliest, most helpful shop around.
