Wines Off Wynkoop is as cheery a shop as you'll find in Denver--nestled away in a LoDo alley with wood floors, brick walls and cases of wine temptingly arranged throughout three levels. More importantly, only the wine is corked up tight here; the people are just plain friendly. Then there are the prices--as easy going as the ambiance. Still, what may be most impressive is that, if you want a bottle of wine delivered Downtown, Wines Off Wynkoop will help you choose it, then gift wrap it and get it to its destination.
I work about a block away from Wines. I go in there and get wine occasionally, cigarettes and an occasional energy drink. I went in this morning to get a Red Bull, gave the owner my credit card and he tried to refuse me service. He was so rude. I told him I didn't have any cash and he decided to take the charge but with rude comments. "In the future I am NOT going to do this" and "This costs me money you know". Since I know he gets charged the same fee regardless of how many cards he charges he was obviously lying. I don't appreciate being treated the way he treated me. He was pretty much telling me he didn't want my business because I wanted to use a credit card. So rude.
I love this place...tucked out of the way - feels like a fun little secret to know about it. The advice I've gotten here has been so good...haven't been disappointed yet - and everyone is so consistently friendly!
Jonathan's comments on wine are always fun to read and encourage me to try new things. The selection of wines is thoughtful with a good breadth of selection, and Jed is a calming force in the universe.
